Cougar Pride Volleyball Club (CPVC) is a member of Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA), under USA Volleyball, the national governing board for volleyball in the United States. CPVC participates in the NCVA GIRLS PERMIER League (and now boys too).

CPVC is a non-profit  volleyball club created by volunteer parents to serve the Pocket / Greenhaven, Land Park, and other south Sacramento areas.  Our name refers to the mascot for our affiliated local high school, John F. Kennedy High School.  Our goals are to create a highly positive and fun volleyball experience while we develop and prepare young athletes to play at higher levels.  We intend to field a competitive team with a supportive environment and without high cost and high pressure.

CPVC believes club volleyball is an important activity to help kids improve their volleyball skills, but it also offers tremendous benefits in fitness and general athletic development.  Volleyball is a fantastic “cross-training” activity that improves jumping, lateral movement, body control, hand-eye coordination, concentration, positioning, court/spacial awareness, decision-making, and quickness.  Aside from the athletic paybacks of club volleyball, one benefit stands above the rest:  It’s a lot of fun!  The players have a great time with each other in a supportive environment among friends.  The players will practice and play together, overcome challenges, win and lose as a team, form bonds, share successes, and commiserate over disappointments. Finally, kids who are involved in sports are more likely to reject negative influences on their health and social behavior.

What is NCVA/USA Volleyball?

The The Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) is a California nonprofit corporation founded in 1982 and organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

I.e. it is the 'league' that CPVC plays in. The NCVA abides by the rules set forth by USA Volleyball; however, it operates as a completely separate business entity.

As a member of NCVA, CPVC must abide by NCVA rules and regulations including insurance, training, timing of tryouts, practices, payments etc.
